President’s Letter to the NUS Photographic Society
Dear NUS Photographic Society members,
Thank you for choosing to be part of the NUSPS family.
For existing members, I trust you have benefitted greatly from the dedication of the 47 th Main Committee, and hope that you would join us as we plan for an exciting new term here at NUSPS. For new members, I would like to extend a heartfelt welcome to the NUS Photographic Society. We sincerely hope that you will find the activities and programmes planned by our Main Committee meaningful and engaging in the year to come.
As a committee, the 48 th Main Committee would like to share our aims with you as we begin our journey together. We will strive to accomplish these goals in the coming academic year.
Firstly, the engagement of our members. This encompasses several things: a sense of belonging, a sense of commitment, and a sense of purpose. The 48 th MC is firmly committed to delivering these things to our members. This is encapsulated in our pledge to value-add in our service to the Society. We understand that merely creating larger budgets or planning more activities does not necessarily mean more engagement. More passion and empathy is what we will instead strive for.
Secondly, the fulfilment of our members. We believe in the fulfilment of our members in several aspects. As our society is made up of individuals with various levels of skill, experience and knowledge, we are dedicated to the advancement of each member in the world of photography. We aim to accomplish this through carefully thought-out workshops, activities and programmes that are designed to appeal to and engage members from all walks. More importantly, the 48 th MC will strive to provide avenues for you to interact and connect with like-minded people. We will ensure that the activities we organise create ample opportunities for lasting and meaningful bonds, and connections to be forged.
Lastly, the growth of our members. Families are defined by how they grow together. Beyond the relationships nurtured and skills gained, are the experiences that shape and strengthen our individuality. It is our job to create these experiences and opportunities, and we recognize and affirm our dedication to create opportunities for our growth together, ultimately to achieve our motto to make everyone a creator.
We hope that your time as a member in the NUSPS will be an engaging, fulfilling and defining chapter in your life.
Yours sincerely,
Ian Ling
